A Prayer for Your New Year

Dear Friends:

I am sharing with you an excerpt from my favorite devotional book, the  classic My Utmost for His Highest, by Oswald Chambers. The final  words of the entry for December 31  provide a powerful thrust to launch us into the new year. May you be awakened to the joy of meeting 2024 with a secure  and courageous spirit.

“SECURITY FOR TODAY:  ‘For ye shall not go out with haste.’  As we go forth into the coming year, let it not be in the haste of impetuous, unremembering delight, nor with the flight of impulsive thoughtlessness, but with the patient power of knowing that the God of Israel will go before us. Our yesterdays present  irreparable things to us; it is true that we have lost opportunities which will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past sleep, but let it sleep on the bosom of Christ.

Leave the  Irreparable Past in His hands, and step out into the Irresistible Future with Him.”

Happy New Year!

Announcement:

My new weekly devotional posts  will begin on January 8.

Always,

Judith

The good thing, Robin, is that Christ is eager to walk with every one of us. It is baffling why more people don’t choose that path. You are on the right track. JN

This spiritually grounded saint, O. C. reminds us of what our passion should be for 2024: SPIRITUAL GROWTH.
I keep his book by my bedside and read it often. His take on Scripture is eye opening and heart warming.

Kudos to you Judith for taking up his mantle to encourage and to enlighten others on their pathway to eternal life.
May you continue to rise and shine throughout this New Year and beyond.
    Doreen

Doreen, yours is such a heartwarming message. I bless the person who sent me a gift of Chambers’ book thirty years ago. It is a bulwark. Let’s keep reading and growing together as we prepare to live in the better kingdom. JN

Happy New Year to uou, Orville. It’s so good to be surprised by a comment from you. And your German shows your Renaissance quality. My late husband used the word “sprechen” a lot. He studied German; I studied Spanish. I did a little translation and concluded that we will talk later. I’m glad that you will be reading my devotions when you are able to. That will be an encouragement to me. We grow together as we prepare for life in His kingdom. JN
