The Welcoming Door
“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9 (NKJV)
We live in an age of gadgets, and there’s a gadget to suit every fancy. One that I’m getting to be familiar with is the talking doorbell that can “see” you and let the people inside the house know whether or not they want to bother with you. I guess it cuts down on having to respond to a lot of nuisance people ringing your doorbell.
At Christmastime last year, I went to a neighbor’s door with a gift for the small child I had seen over there a few times. I rang the doorbell and was told by its “voice” that they couldn’t come to the door, but I could leave a message. I said I was a neighbor and waited for a while. Nobody came to the door. There were two cars in the driveway and signs of life inside. I waited for a little while longer, and then left. Later, I took the lovely plush toy to the teacher in the Cradle Roll department at my church.
Jesus says such good things to us! In our focus text for today, He says, “I am the door.” He is not a gadget attached to a door. He is the real thing. He tells us we can knock, and the door will be opened up ( Matthew 7:7). No problem getting a response. There’s nothing alerting Him as to whether we’re worth opening up for. His all-seeing eye sees us, recognizes us, and welcomes us in. One of His favorite word is “Come.” We show up at His door, and we’re never turned away.
Always,
Judith

Thank God for keeping his promises to us. The door is open 24/7.

You’re so right, Fartema. Can you imagine what would happen if we were shut out even once? We bless His name for His constant, caring love. JN
