Let Us Give Thanks
“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1 (NKJV)
Another day of national thanksgiving. How shall we spend it? Surely, we want to spend time with our family and friends and enjoy the feast of good food that can be so delicious on this special day. But let us pause during this season of acknowledged blessings to express thanks to God who gave us all things through His Word. Actually, it is through the words of Scripture that we come to know Him. One of the things that the Scriptures invite us to do is to be thankful.
****“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise; Give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4 (NIV). We thank God for His house, a sanctuary where we can openly worship Him in freedom.
***“But thanks be to God! he gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
We thank God for victory over our weakknesses and for His continued strength to overcome.
***“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” Hebrews 12:28 We thank God that we belong to an unshakable kingdom. We need not fear difficult times in our lives or the crumbling of social norms around us We rest on the Rock that cannot be moved.
***“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:15 Thank You, God for the matchless gift of Your grace that looks beyond our faults and provides pardon and peace.
***“Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Psalm 95:2 Thank God for the uplifting gift of music that delights us, cheers us, and at times causes our hearts to soar as we continue our spiritual journey.
***“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” 1Chronicles 16:8
We are thankful for the privilege of telling about what God has done for us.
On this Thanksgiving Day, the words of a song by Raymond Gunn can help us express our praise.
A diligent and grateful heart
Prompts me to sing Thy praise.
Thy love and mercies from the start
Have blessed me all my days.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Always,
Judith

once a year.
It’s an attitude of the heart that produces joy.”
